Broderick Stephen Frazier

Broderick Stephen Frazier, affectionately known as Brodie, Bubs, Bubba, Broccoli, Brodericko, Babe and The Brod, was born September 18,1989 in Des Moines, Iowa to Steven and Michelle Frazier. He entered this world with big brown eyes, an infectious smile, and an amazing personality. Possessing these assets, he won first place in a local baby contest. In addition, his picture was displayed on a brochure for the Iowa Department of Health.

Brodericks formative years at Brodericks Corner, a home- based daycare center, were filled with love and learning readiness skills for starting school. He developed an extensive vocabulary complemented with sound logic. With his young infinite wisdom, Broderick perceived himself as a leader, but his playmates referred to him as “Bossy Broderick”.

There were many highlights in Brodericks life. His elementary and middle school years were filled with attending school and participating in the youth programs at Union Park Baptist Church. Broderick excelled in reading, math and writing and he also excelled in the arts. Music ran throughout Brodericks DNA. He inherited both vocal and instrumental talents from the McDonald and Chapman families. Broderick sang as well as played the violin, steel drums and piano. Broderick enjoyed the Awanas program at Union Park Baptist church. In addition, he participated in a youth group under the leadership of Pastor Wesley Foster. A memorable moment for Broderick was traveling with the youth group to Petersburg, Kentucky to see the Creation Museum.

Broderick attended North High School and Faith Academy. He entered their dual enrollment program which afforded him the opportunity to graduate a year early. He, and his best friend Jorge Bassett, excelled at Faith Academy. Having his grandfather, the late Lieutenant Colonel Grady E. Taylor, present at his graduation and his principal, Dr. Vincent Lewis, attend his graduation party were special moments in Brodericks life.

Upon graduation from high school, Broderick won a scholarship to Barclay Christian College in Haviland, Kansas. At the end of his freshman year, he transferred to Huntington University, a Christian college located in Huntington, Indiana. Both institutions were instrumental in the development of Brodericks personal relationship with the Lord! Broderick was grateful for his college experiences, especially going on tour to the Pacific Northwest and Southern states with the Barclay College Chorus and developing relationships at Huntington University that resulted in lifelong friendships with Miles Allen and Joshua Fitzgerald.

Broderick enjoyed eating good food! His love for food was one of the factors that influenced his decision to work for the food industry where he started as a delivery man for Dominos Pizza and Jimmy Johns. He then accepted a management position at Walmart. Years later he would become the first business coach for Walmart at Jordan Creek, in West Des Moines. When Broderick worked at the Indianola Walmart, his manager, Kathy Anderson, referred to him as her “Walmart Son” because of his kind demeanor and work ethic. Broderick went the extra mile to assist customers and co-workers. Broderick was progressive. He took the store from #13 to number #1 in their market. The CFO of Walmart presented him with a special certificate. He was in the process of transferring from Walmart and was excited about starting his new job as Front- End Manager at Sams Club in Ankeny on September 25th.

Brodericks life was filled with many special moments, but the greatest moment was meeting Nicolle Jensen who later became his wife! Broderick loved karaoke and on the night that he proposed to Nicole, he sang “Always and Forever”. Being blessed with a “balladeer” voice, Broderick sang so smoothly that people commented, “that man is getting ready to propose”! With microphone in hand, Broderick asked Nicole to marry him. They were married on August 18, 2019. Together they enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, traveling, going camping and taking their dogs, Marshmallow Jay and Luna, to various parks for play dates.

Broderick Stephen Frazier died on September 21, 2021. After a brief life of 32 years on this earth, Broderick is now with the Lord.
