Evielean Thomas

Evielean Green Thomas was born May 14, 1936 to Eugene Williams Sr. and Flora Ezell-Hopkins in Linden Alabama where she grew up in the country.

During her school aged years, her and 3 of her siblings traveled to school in a boat. One day traveling to school, the boat tipped over. The only one in the boat that could swim was a cousin named Jessie Lee, who rescued her, losing all 3 of her siblings and father.

Also; during her childhood, she lived on a property that had a water well. She fell in the water well twice during childhood and was rescued. So, we can see that Satan tried to take her life numerous times, but God protected her for her divine purpose. She was baptized at an early age. She studied under the direction of Oral Roberts and others. She accepted her call to the ministry around the age of 36 where she did her first sermon at Redemption Missionary Baptist Church where she was one of the founders in Cedar Rapids, Iowa under the direction of Pastor Harmon Webb. She was a powerful Evangelist and ministered in many cities, touching many lives.

She was a woman, that believed, and lived holy. She had a powerful ministry in encouraging others, and giving them direction through the Word of God. She had a love and passion for tent revivals. She loved to sing her old gospel hymns around the house. She loved to eat and believed in chewing slowly to enjoy every bite. She had a great sense of humor and we all knew when she was sleepy due to her constant laughing.

She was known for her sweet potato pie and her Aunt Fredas pie which was to die for, also; Mrs. Greens famous Bar-B-Q sauce which was sold in many stores.

The family moved to Des Moines after her late husband Fred Green accepted a pastoral position at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

She believed and focused on the power of prayer. While a member at Macedonia Baptist Church, she helped start the prayer band ministry which presided in an upper area at the former Macedonia Baptist Church, now Reconcilers Worship Center. Her and others prayed there for house and even many times over night, and 24-hour period. She had a major part in Operation Blessing/700 Club operated out of Macedonia Baptist Church with former husband Pastor Fred Green and Dr. Bobby Young. Dr. Bobby Young was also her prayer partner.

Through her faith in Jesus Christ, her obedience to the word, and her dedication to the constant praying, reading, and studying of the Bible, she became a strong prayer warrior and maintained this principal throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Flora Williams. Brothers: John, Allen, and Edward Williams. Sisters: Margarette and Reola Williams. Former Spouses: George Young, George McCall and spouses Pastor Fred Green, and William Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas leaves to cherish her memory, A Brother, Eugene Williams (Barbara), her children Eunice Young Simmons (Calvin), Angela Young (Tommie), Derrick Young, Damon Green, Grandson Titus Young (whom she raised). Step children Sherri Dixon (Andrew), Harlan Thomas, Sharon Tate, Herb Thomas. Sister-in-law Queenetta Williams. And a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
