Grace Kirby Talley Allen

Grace Kirby (Talley) Allen, 85 went home to be with the Lord November19, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

Grace was born to Arthur 'Chock' Talley and Rebecca Worley Talley in Marietta, Oklahoma. Grace's mother died on Christmas Eve,1936. so she went to stay with her big sister, Shirley Liggons Demmons in Cleburne, Texas for a few years. She returned to help raise her younger sister and brother, Violet and James.

Grace was educated in the Marietta School system. She went to work right out of high school and worked at a pants factory in town until her retirement. Though she worked hard she still found time to raise and tend a garden where she harvested vegetables and fruits which she canned. And could she make a peach cobbler? Yes she could; right from her own peach trees in the yard. Aunt Grace could cook anything! She fried an armadillo once that tasted just like fried fish! She like to work on jig saw puzzles and word find games also.

Grace was married to Beader Howard and from this union her three children were born, Rebecca Ann, Royce Lee and Jacqueline Nell Howard. She later was married to Reverend Allen who preceded her in death. Grace's parents, and all her siblings, Mac Looney, Peggy Looney, Shirley Demmons, William (Jack) , James Lewis, Bobby Lee, Juanita Talley Gaines, Loretta MacDowell and Violet Douglas preceded her in death. She was the last of her generation. (On Sunday, November 16, her nephew that was named after her, Kirby Talley, preceded her in death.)

She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Rebecca (Perry) Halstead, Royce (Pauline) Howard and Jacqueline Howard; several grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
