Jimmie Lee Cameron Jr

Jimmie Lee Cameron Jr., affectionately known as "Budden" by his family and close friends, he was born February 11, 1972 in New Albany, MS to Jimmie Cameron Sr. and Juanita Byrd Cameron. The family relocated to Des Moines while he was still a youngster.

Jimmie was educated in the Des Moines Public School system where he graduated from Hoover High School. He furthered his education by attending DMACC where he started his CNA certification and studied business practices. He loved learning and spoke fluent Spanish.

Jimmie had a great gift for music. He could sing, but he preferred to rap. He was an award winning rapper under the stage name of "Big 7". He was the first high profile hip hop star in Des Moines, with 3 recorded projects. His rap skills enabled him to rub shoulders with some of gospel music's biggest stars. He was instrumental in hosting the city's first Bobby Jones' Praise Break. He also performed on the Bobby Jones Gospel show and did security for them. He won an OMAR award for the best gospel hip-hop artist; and was a regular attendee for the Missouri Gospel Announcers Guild. Jimmie was a generous person and built his non profits , Sixx Arts and Exodus, around feeding the homeless.

Jimmie's greatest love was his children, Naytia and Nashon Cameron. He was a caring and nurturing father who provided a loving home.

Jimmie passed from time into eternity on November 24, 2015. He was 43 years old. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sarah Jacobs and cousin Christopher Byrd.

Left to mourn Jimmie's passing are his children, Naytia and Nashon Cameron; his parents, Juanita and Jimmie Cameron, Sr., his sister, Sharon Jenkins; former wife, Antaysia Brooks along with a host of extended family and many, many friends across the country.
