Kirby Dwayne Talley Sr

Kirby Talley, the son of James Lewis Talley and Dorothy (Green) Talley, was born September 16, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the fourth of five sons born to that union and was named after his dad's sister, Grace Kirby Allen.

Kirby, graduated from Des Moines Tech High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps.

When Kirby was discharged he set about making a living for himself as a painter. He ws an expert commercial painter who loved and took pride in his profession. He could paint, install tile and hang drywall.

Kirby was Kirby. He was caring and generous and sensitive and hard - all at the same time. He was a complicated man who loved the simple pleasures of life. Kirby loved going fishing with his Dad and later his brother Tim. He loved his family immensely and his only daughter, Brittany was the joy of his life until he had grandchildren. He was so proud of them. Growing up, Kirby was the wild child. Mischievous and full of fun, always on the go and testing the limits.

Kirby confessed a belief in a risen Christ. He attended Maple Street Baptist Church as a youngster. After having a major heart attack in 2007, he rededicated his life and was recently baptized at Lutheran Church of Hope.

Kirby stepped from time into eternity on November 16, 2014 at the age of 54. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ricky.

Left to cherish Kirby's memory is his daughter, Brittany Talley; brothers, James Talley, Jr, Leslie J. Talley and Timothy Talley; his grandchildren, Brandon Jr., Bria and Brixton (expected in January; his aunts, Lillian Haynes and Grace Allen; his long time companion, Betty Nall and stepsons, Billy and Jason Shoop; his special friend, Angela Bonnet and a host of cousins and friends.

It was Kirby's wish to be cremated and scattered at his favorite fishing spot in Minnesota.
