Marta Jean Harper was born March 19, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa; the fifth of six children born to Artie M. (Lewis) and Henry F. Harper.
Marta attended the Des Moines Public School District and graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa in 1984. Later Marta further pursued her education and obtained several certifications including Phlebotomist and Certified Medical Assistant. She had a love for learning.
Martas long-term employer was Mercy Hospital where she held several positions including Transporter and Phlebotomist. She had a true passion and gift for caring for people. Her most favorite job, if you could call it that, was being a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend to all.
Marta was raised in her Grandma Lewis church, Jacobs Temple. In her adult life she became saved and found Christ at Elpis Christian Fellowship with Pastor Tammy Harris Brantley.
She was a kind, gentle and loving person who enjoyed her family, playing cards, dominoes, listening to music, dancing and singing.
Martas life and spiritual soul separated from her body to gain everlasting life on December 23, 2019. Preceding Marta in death was her loving sister, Shirley Harper Thomas and several beloved family members.
The memories of her life will be cherished by sons, Christian (Dion) Hunley, Trae Hunley, and Joseph (Michael) Harper; her parents, Artie and Henry (Frank) Harper; her siblings, Kevin (Donna) Burkett, Terry (Wanda) Harper, Kim (Terry) Harris, Elisa Harper and her precious grandchildren, Ahmaia, Reminisce, Aaliyah, Aalaeh, Ameisha, Kaleb, Christian Jr., Sabrina and a host of extended family and many, many friendsVisitation
