Mary Joan Bryant, 78, passed away April 5, 2015.



In honoring the request of Mrs. Bryant, there will be no services held.



Mrs. Mary Bryant was born on March 6, 1937 in Quincy, IL, the sixth of eight children born to Charles and Garnet (Davis) Webb.

Mary obtained her education through the Quincy, IL Public School System. She graduated from Quincy High School in 1955.



She met the love of her life, Nathaniel (Nate) Bryant in 1956, and were joined in holy matrimony in Quincy, IL, on June 28, 1958, and then moved in Des Moines, IA. To this union, they were blessed with four daughters: Peggy, Natalie, Mary Beth and Amy.



Mrs. Bryant was employed as an obstetrician technician at Mercy Medical Hospital for 30 years. In 1981, she joined her daughter, Mary Beth, along with her friend Mary Biggs, in the establishment of Marys' Up, Up & Away, the first balloon and novelty shop in Des Moines, IA.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.



On April 5, 2015, Mary stepped from life into eternity. Preceding her in death is her husband of 56 years, Nathaniel (Nate) Bryant; her parents, Charles and Garnet Webb; her eldest grandson, Carl Clayton Jenkins II; her siblings, Jean Hale, Wilma Jones, Richard Webb, Robert Webb, and Nancy Williams.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters: Peggy (Walter) Young; Natalie; Mary Beth and Amy (Pierre Ward) Bryant. Her grandsons: Nathan (Laura Wilwerding) Bryant, and Marcus Young; great-grandson, Cartier James Bryant; her sister, Bessie Jackson and her brother, James Webb; as well as a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
