Olabelle Lavern Williams-Black was born on January 21, 1938 to Roosevelt Williams and Jessie Williams-Frazier (Floyd Frazier) in Worland, Wyoming. She graduated from East High School in 1957 and later attended Grand View College.

She was blessed with one loving son, David Bryant Hodges, and had a special relationship with great nephew, Andre Williams. In 1986 she married Arthur Black and welcomed his children Arthur, Ressie, and Franklin to her family.

She was employed with Blue Cross/ Blue Shield for 30 years. Later, she was employed as an R.N. by Mercy Medical Hospital where she worked diligently and faithfully.

She enjoyed watching track and field events, reading, and participating in events with the Knights of Pythias. She was a member of the Knights of Pythias Court of Calanthe where she served for over 30 years. She served as Worthy Counsellor of Samaria Court #9. She was also Grand Worthy of Calanthe of Iowa Jurisdiction for 15 years and Junior Directress of the Supreme Court of Calanthe.

On March 7, 2016 Olabelle departed this world and stepped into eternity. She is reunited on the other side with her husband, Arthur Black; parents, Roosevelt Williams and Jesse Williams-Frazier; stepfather, Floyd Frazier; sisters, Maudette Eubanks, Patricia Burkette, and Donna Jean Richards.

Left to cherish Olabelle's memory are her son, David B. Hodges; daughter-in-law, Shena Sailor-Hodges, stepchildren, Arthur R. Black, Ressie L. Black, and Franklin Black; sisters, Mildred White and Rose Gibson; grandchildren, Jaiden and Madisyn Hodges, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
