Orange Allen Thomas

Orange Allen Thomas was born July 23, 1930 in Knob Noster, Missouri to George and Dovie Ann (Bruner) Thomas.

Orange was educated in the Knob Noster School district where he graduated and soon enlisted in the United States Army. Orange served overseas in the Korean War. He was very proud of his service to his country. After his discharge he moved to Des Moines and was employed by Northwest Bell Telephone for over 34 years. He never missed a day!

Orange was a very handsome man and did not lack for company. He was married several times and was father to LaToya, Dovie, Tracie, Stephenia and DeMarques. Sadly his wives Harriett, Margaret "Winnie Lou" and Katherine all preceded him in death.

Orange was HGTV before his time, He loved to decorate the house and yard. He made sure the garage matched the shed and the fence. He was also an amateur inventor, creating things that would make his life easier. His porch wing had a canopy that wasn't effective in blocking the sun; so he put a roof with shingles on it. Orange loved to go hunting, fishing and work in the yard. He was a great story teller and could spin you a tale about anything. He liked listening to the blues and some of the newer gospel artists. Most of all, Orange like spending time with his family and friends.

Early in the morning of September 23, 2014, Orange asked Stephenia if she would "turn off the light" in his room. Then he slipped quietly away to eternity. Orange was 84 years old. Waiting to greet him on the other side were his parents George and Dovie Thomas; his children, Teanna Marie Thomas and Allen Craig Thomas; his siblings, Georgia Mae Bass, Luther Thomas, Celius Thomas, Ethel Johnson, Osie Thomas, Florinda Thomas, Frieda Artina Thomas, Thelma Louise Thomasand Lewis Thomas.

Left to cherish Orange's memory are his children, LaToya Thomas, Dovie Muhammed, Tracie Thomas, Stephenia Thomas Claytor and DeMarques Thomas along with a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends.
