Peggy D. Mitton

Peggy (Doner) Mitton was born on January 6, 1948 to Glenn and Frances (Dunn) Doner, in Des Moines, IA. She was educated in the Des Moines Public School District and graduated from East High School. She continued her education at Des Moines Area Community College, where she studied computer programming.



Peggy worked in the communications field for the majority of her career. She was a computer operator for Northwestern Bell, AT&T and Qwest phone companies.



During her leisure time, Peggy enjoyed a variety of activities. Peggy liked to play Bingo, travel and try her luck at Prairie Meadows. She also enjoyed playing with her two feline friends, Toby and Baby Girl. Peggy was a member of the Womens Auxillary for the Za Ga Zig Shriners.



Peggy passed away peacefully on September 26, 2016, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Frances Doner and a sister, Judy Lumley.



Left to cherish Peggy's memory are her children, John Mitton Jr. and Melissa Sorter; grandchildren, Michael, Madison, Jeffrey and Edward; siblings, Patty (David) Riddle, Michele (David) Reasland, Debi (Jeff) Strahl, John (Yvette) Doner and Barb Doner along with a host of other relatives and friends.
