Robert Bailey

March 28, 1936 — August 18, 2015

Robert Bailey

Robert Bailey was born on March 28, 1936 to Frank Bailey and Mattie (Evans) Scroggins, in Lafayette, AL. He was educated in the local school district and graduated from Lafayette High School.

After graduating he enlisted into the United States Army and served until he received his Honorable Discharge in May of 1955.

Along life's journey Robert met the love of his life, Sallie Brewer. The two were joined in holy matrimony on October 29, 1977. They were blessed with six children: Linda, Victor, Vicki, Angela, Jill and Jason.

Robert had an impeccable work ethic. He worked tirelessly as a bartender, security officer and for the police department. But his "bread and butter" was John Deere. He retired as a Facilities Manager after 19 years of service.

When Robert wasn't tending to his family or working one of his many jobs, he spent his time enjoying life. Robert was a member of the Road Runners bowling team and a member of the 300 club. On a nice, clear day he could be found with a fishing cast into a water at a river or pond. He was also a great baker. His pound cakes will surely be missed during holidays and get-togethers.

Robert was called from labor to rest on August 18, 2015. There to greet him on the other side was his mother, Mattie Scroggins; father, Frank Bailey; grandmother, Marie Wright and grandfather, A.B. Wright.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sallie; children, Linda Winters, Victor (Ellen) Bailey, Vicki Bailey, Angela Pryor, Jill Bailey and Jason Bailey; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Willie (Gail) Bailey, Marie Gordon, Nancy Scroggins and James (Sabrina) Scroggins and a host of other relatives and friends.
