Verna Joan Johnson

Mrs Verna Joan Johnson passed away March 12, 2015. She was 81 years old.

Verna was a long time waitress for several restaurants in the city.

She was born at home on August 6, 1933 in Ogden, Iowa to Vernon 'Barney' Leichliter and Francis Dahlberg Leichliter. She attended Ogden High School where she played basket ball.

Verna was married to Wayne F. Johnson and together they raised a family. Wayne preceded Verna in death, but she found love again in the person of Bill Boswell. They spent their 'golden years' quietly caring for each other at Sunnyview in Ankeny.

Verna loved crafts and playing bingo (which she frequently won), word search puzzles and decorating for the holidays. She would go all out for Christmas making her favorite oyster stew.

Verna leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Dennis, Douglas, David, Duane and Dawn (Steven) Johnson and Debra (Thomas) Paulson; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and her faithful companion, Bill Boswell.
