William Webster

William Ernest Webster, affectionately called "Bill", was born to William and Rose Webster on August 24, 1964 in Des Moines, Iowa.

He was raised and educated in the Des Moines Public School System, graduating in the class of 1981 from Theodore Roosevelt High School.

Having a passion for cutting hair, Bill pursued his Cosmetology License and worked as a hairstylist for over 30 years, last employed at "So U Beauty Salon".

On September 13, 2015 Bill was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Yolanda Hughes. Bill and his wife were members of the Elpis Christian Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor Tammy L. Harris-Brantley.

Being raised by Des Moines own Rose Marie Webster, Bill was surrounded by music, and had an exceptional voice himself. He sang in numerous choirs and groups, and performed in many school productions. He loved gospel music and jazz, reading and cooking. His smothered pork chops and collard greens were particular dishes he made that the family remembers fondly.

On Sunday, May 21, 2017 Bill made his way to the front of the congregation and testified of his faith in God, and Gods goodness towards him. After thanking the church for their love, support and prayers, Bill stated "It Is Well With My Soul". For the remainder of the service, from his pew, you could hear him singing "Lord Make Me Over".

It was on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 that William Ernest Webster transitioned from labor to reward.

He rejoins his parents: William and Rose Marie Gaiters-Webster and his maternal grandmother, Madge Gaiters.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Yolanda Hughes-Webster; stepchildren: Tavian Hughes of Des Moines, IA and Essence and DeAndre Lloyd of Atlanta, GA; siblings: Prince and Ernesta Webster of Arizona, Arlene Bright and Dennis Webster of Des Moines, IA; in-laws: Ophelia and George Boateng of Iowa City, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, many friends and acquaintances.
