Alaysia Outlaw was born on March 14, 2001, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Lamar Outlaw and Alisa Buchanan. She attended the Des Moines Public School System, graduating from North High School. Following graduation, Alaysia worked in the warehouse industry. She loved the game of basketball, and worked hard at developing her skills playing for the AAU Team, Kingdom Hoops.
Alaysia was a member of Elpis Christian Fellowship, under the leadership of Bishop- Designate Tammy L. Harris. She was devoted to her faith in Christ, and didn’t allow her ailments to keep her from attending, and participating in worship. Alaysia was gifted and blessed with the voice of an angel, and that wasn’t her only talent. She had begun taking piano lessons with Marion Robinson, and immediately learned and played “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High”.
She had a sense of style and fashion. Alaysia was a true sneakerhead with a large collection. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at the family cookouts! Whenever she arrived, she was intentional about loving on, and playing with the babies.
On Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the age of 24, Alaysia made her transition to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family and friends, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Ronald L. Buchanan and Deaconess Mary Outlaw; brother, Lamarius Outlaw; cousins, Adriene Buchanan and Ronald A. Buchanan Jr.
Those who remain to cherish Alaysia’s memory of love and faith, her devoted mother, Alisa Buchanan; father, Lamar Outlaw; siblings Armoni and Jaloni Gray, and La’Bria Outlaw; uncles, Calvin, Kelvin, Deshone and Willie Outlaw, Ronald A. (Monica) Buchanan Sr.; aunts Mary Outlaw-Hopkins, Barbara Outlaw-Fisher, and Tina Wells; grandparents Deacon Willie Outlaw, Sr., and Juanita Buchanan; nieces, Kenya Gray, Lamaria and Armari Outlaw; godparents, Antron Page and Da’Kasha Moore; godchildren, Clasean, Jr. and Khalil Stallworth, and Qyon Buchanan; along with a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
Family, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Love, Alaysia
