Betty Murray passed away on October 21, 2020.

Celebration of Life services were held today at 1 pm from the funeral home.

Betty Louise Murray was born on July 19, 1927 to Mr. John Arthur Tolson and Mrs. Geraldine Conway ( Buckner), in Des Moines, IA. She was a long time member of Maple Street Baptist Church. She served as a member of the choir and mother of the church.

Betty was the matriarch of her family and organized all family events. She had an infectious-fun loving personality that was coupled with extreme intelligence. She was dedicated to her entire family. Her devotion extended from the eldest members to the fifth and sixth generations

Betty enjoyed jigsaw and crosswords puzzles. Betty talents comprised of sewing, cooking and baking. Betty taught herself to sew by using newspaper to cut out her patterns. She made her own garments, covering for her furniture, children and men suites. One of her favor pass times was attending her sons sporting events. She supported "so enthusiastically" the coach would ask her to be seated away from the boys.

Betty passed away on October 21, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, John Arthur Tolson; mother, Geraldine Conway; husband, Ralph L Murray Sr.; her son, Ralph L. Murray Jr.; daughter in law, Brenda Murray; grandson, Michael Simmons Jr. and grand daughter, Brittany Murray.

Survivors include her loving children, Sandra J. Curtis, Atlanta Ga., Marsha (William Franklin), Denver, CO, Linda (Izmaud) Johnson, Raymond Murray, Bruce Murray, Marvin (Donna) Wesley all of Des Moines, Iowa; siblings, James A. Tolson of Denver, CO, Jacqueline Williams, Arla Hollins, Paula Morris, and Jonnetta Camp Bey of Des Moines, Iowa. She has 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.Visitation
