Billy Lee Mahaney, Sr

Billy Mahaney, Sr. was born October 21, 1944 to Marvin Hall and Bertha Mahaney in Montgomery, Missouri. The family moved to Des Moines when he was small and Billy attended the Des Moines Public Schools.

After graduation from North High School, Billy enlisted in the Marine Corps. he served honorably in Viet Nam and upon his discharge, returned to Des Moines and embarked on his career.

Billy was a painter and carpenter who worked for himself. When he wasn't working Billy like to draw, paint, fish from his boat, watch westerns, ride his motorcycle and drive his jaguar. Billy like dot experiment when he cooked and loved him some beans and ham hocks. He liked all kinds of sporting events including watching tennis and golf on TV.

Billy was a Christian-period. He attended all kinds of churches and even studied with Jehovah's Witnesses for awhile.

Billy made his transition from this life on August 5, 2013. Preceding Billy in death were his parents, Marvin and Bertha, his sister, Sandra Hall and brother, Herbie Forrest.

Left to mourn Billy's passing are his long time companion, Susan; his grandchildren, Te-Aria, Terikah, Tatanea and Billy Mahaney III; the grandchildren would like to acknowledge their paternal grandmother, Carol; daughter in law, Terri Trumbo-Mahaney, step-sons, Sean Colemon, Sr. and Kip (Yolanda) Colemon; step-grandchildren, Sean 'T-man' Colemon, Jr. , JaSean and Markell Colemon; siblings, Terry Vincent, Connie, Kay, Penny, Debbie, Steve and Beverly Hall, Francis Harris, Corey Lucas and Shirley Graves and a host of extended family and many, many friends.
