Brian "Taz" Grant went home to be with the Lord November 1, 2021.
Brian “Taz” Grant was born in Dixmoor, Illinois to Amos Grant and Rudelle Duffey Grant. He was educated in the Cook County School system where he graduated from Dixmoor High School. Baseball, basketball or football, Brian played and excelled in them all. He spent time in Country Club Hills and other suburban Chicago cities before moving to Des Moines.
Brian was always interested in Agri finance and marketing but his first passion was Music. He loved all genres of music. After a recent move to Cedar Rapids he found employment at the Marian Music Academy. He loved working with children and especially those with special needs using his music as a catalyst.
Brian was musically multi talented. He played all the instruments in the band, taught music lessons, produced and wrote his own music and music for other artists (one in the UK has a #1 hit CD playing now). He has scored ballets, toured Europe with his own “The Taz Band” and had a solo career. As a member of Corinthian Baptist Church he played the bass guitar, ran the soundboard and played for the Fellowship Chorus. Brian could also sing and tried his hand at clothing design.
While music was Brians passion, his family was his life. He liked nothing better than to put some food on the grill and get his family together for laughs, fun and love. Spending time with the children and grandchildren was very important. He also liked spending time in Arizona and cheering for his favorite Chicago Bears football team.
Gone too soon, Brian passed away on November 1, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Even while sick, Brian preached a message of faith in Jesus, to all who would listen.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Andee Grant; his children, Kirsten Grant, Kylie “Ky” Grant, Nick Grant, Casey Steciw, Haley Steciw and Cade Steciw; his grandchildren, Karter, Kamrie and Brielle; his brothers, Quinn Grant and Darryl Grant, along with a host of aunts, uncles, extended family and friends that include Gracie, the dog.
