Cindy Garcia

Cindy “Kim” Garcia, 67, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. Her memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral & Cremation Care. Immediately following her visitation her memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date. 

 Cindy was born on September 8, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa to Donald and Mary (Betts) Toomey. She grew up in Des Moines where she attended East High School, graduating with the class of 1974. She went to DMACC where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree. Cindy worked at various places as a nurse. 

 She loved spending time with her family, cooking, calling her grandkids, being outdoors, taking her dog for walks, watching horror movies, The Young and The Restless, and the 1^st 48 Hours.

 Those left to cherish her loving memories are her children Amy Betts, Jason (Brittany) Betts, Denisha (Marlando Smith) Betts, and bonus daughters Brenda Klinger and Melissa Thompson; grandchildren Amyah, TK, Jamaja, January, GeAnte’, Tavion, Mealah, Aiz’lyn, Arianna, Larry, Ryanna, Kianna, DaeShawn, Lani, Jayda, Jabreya, Allison, and Kavonna; great-grandchildren Zay’mier, Aza’Lea, Az’mir, Zah’kari, and Amiri; siblings Richard Toomey and Danny Toomey.

 Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Randy Betts, and son James Betts.
