Deacon Napoleon Douglas passed away on November 13, 2020. A public visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Henderson's Highland Park Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Private family services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. The public is encouraged to view the funeral service on our live stream from the Henderson's Highland Park Funeral Home Facebook page. Due to Covid-19, Social Distancing and masks will be required to attend the visitation. Also, due to the recent upsurge in active Covid-19 cases and the wishes of the family: No more than 10 people allowed in the funeral home at a time. The use of a separate entrance and exit will be provided for those who wish to pay their respects to Mr. Douglas and his family to eliminate some risk of transmission. Your understanding is appreciated during this difficult time.



Life Reflections

Deacon Napoleon Douglas was a man of God, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Cousin, Teacher, Salesman, and Friend. He went to be with His Lord in the early morning of Friday, November 13th, 2020. Family Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on July 5th, 1950, Napoleon grew up with his parents, Thomas Sr. and Kathleen, and his three brothers Thomas Jr., William, and Charil. He spent his early years there, and then soon moved with his Mother to Washington D.C., for better opportunities for his family. D.C. became his home for the next few decades, and he made a life and a family of his own. His first marriage blessed him with his eldest daughters, Shaunetae and Nicole, and his third child, Kia, was born soon thereafter. After living many years for himself, he gave his life to Christ and joined a local Church Family. Soon after, he met his wife, Denice, and their marriage blessed them with his two youngest, Melody and Napoleon. Soon after Napoleons birth, they relocated to Des Moines, Iowa, to raise their young family. Career and Church Service A family provider, he used his drive and stacked cans at neighborhood grocers in Rock Hill, as well as picking weeds or any other hustle he was able to get a hold of. In D.C, he grew into a master of sales and insurance. In Iowa, Napoleon took his experience in insurance sales and became a successful car salesman. He spent over 25 years working for Ford Motors at both Quality Ford and Charles Gabus Ford. For a period of at least 10 consecutive years, Napoleon remained one of the top three Company dealers in New and Used Car Sales. After his retirement at 65, he spent a majority of his time as an Uber and Lyft Driver, as well as an independent salesperson for multiple health initiatives. Napoleon was introduced to his wifes home church - The Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church of Des Moines, Iowa - and he became heavily immersed in many of the churchs Ministries. A faithful Corinthian Member for nearly 30 years, Napoleon was the lead teacher for multiple Adult Sunday school classes, Co-teacher of the Mens Ministry, on the Security Team, an Announcement Clerk, Vacation Bible School Teacher, President of Mens Fellowship Chorus, and both Vice-Chair and Chair of the Deacon Board. As a Deacon, he strengthened in the Churchs infrastructure and put together programming to make things better. He introduced the idea of posting all of the Deacons photos on the South Wall of the Church, so that New Members and the Congregation would know who to find when they need help. Other ministries soon followed suit. To further Church administrative transparency, he instituted the Zip Code project that charged the Ministers, Deacon Board, Deaconess Board and Mothers Board to commit to active outreach to the Congregation.



Legacy He was preceded in rest by his Father, Thomas Douglas; his Mother, Kathleen Douglas; and his Brothers Jimmy Douglas and Charil "Cordell" Douglas. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 36 years, Denice E Douglas, his children Shaunetae Douglas, Nicole (Donald) Harrington, Kia (Iris) Hill, Melody Kathleen Douglas, and Napoleon Maurice Douglas; His sister, Mary Ann Watson; His Brothers Thomas Douglas, Jr. and William Douglas; Grandchildren Donnia Harrington and Kadin Hill; and a multitude of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and extended family. Revelation 14:13 - And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!"
