Deleesa Brown

Deleesa Brown passed away on April 14, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Corinthian Baptist Church starting at 1:00pm.

Deleesa Denise “Sparky” Brown was born on February 26, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to George Reese and Christine Murdock. She was educated through the Chicago Public School District, graduating from Englewood High School. Deleesa attended Malcolm X and Worsham Mortuary College in Chicago, Illinois. Deleesa moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 2012. She continued her education at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Deleesa worked at Cook County Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Technician for more than 20 years. She retired from this position in 2002. After arriving in Des Moines, Iowa she found employment at Methodist Hospital and became a Certificated Nursing Assistant.

Deleesa was an active member at Corinthian Baptist Church where she served on the Security Team and Usher Board.

Deleesa had a beautiful smile and was easy going. She was a great listener and you could talk to her about anything. Deleesa always had words of encouragement and gave good advice. No matter what the situation or circumstance Deleesa strived to maintain a positive attitude. She kept busy. Deleesa liked to learn new things, travel and old school and house music. She loved cooking southern food like greens, roast and cornbread.

Delessa passed away on April 14, 2023. She is preceded in death by her mother, Christine Murdock; father, George Reese; brother, George Jr.; great-aunt, Maggart McCoy; great-uncle, Jab McCoy; step-brother, Robert Williamson Jr.; step-sister, Ruby Williamson and stepfather, Robert Williamson Sr.

Left to cherish her in memory are her son, James Murdock (Jenny); grandson, Aryon Murdock; brother, Anthony Williamson (Valerie); Cynthia Chapman, Randall Williamson and a host of extended family, church family and friends.
