Diane 'Donna' Marie Allen-Smith

Diane Marie Smith was born October 30, 1958 to Alonzo and Louise (Law) Allen. Diane was known as Donna all her life. She attended and graduated from Des Moines Tech High. Donna furthered her education by attending DMACC where she majored in communications.

Donna loved children and was employed by Tiny Tots Day Care until she became disabled. She liked to go fishing, traveling and shopping at thrift stores. Donna also loved to entertain and loved cooking for the family. She made the best chili in town and had a special concoction called 'swampgully' that was delicious! She spent many hours with her grandchildren caring and teaching them the way of the world. She had given her life to Christ and was a member of Reconcilers Worship Center where she served on the Mother's Board and Hospitality Committee.

And suddenly she was gone. On May 29, 2014 Donna stepped from time into eternity. She was 55 years old. Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters Rose and Anita Allen; her brothers, Donald, Harry and Thaddeus Allen.

She will be missed by her spouse of 25 years, Don Smith; her only child, Jimmica Gross; step children, Tamika Crow, Aubrey Allen and Renita Allen; grandchildren, Steven Washington, Jimmaurie Gross, Leeontae Gross, Aurteamus Crow, J'vonn Crow, Brandon Henderson, Andrew Palimore, alona Whishinton, doneika Washington, Andrea Jackson, Mia Gross and Ya'Niya Sellers; brother, Mose (Edna) Allen, Kimberly McCracken and a host of extended family and many friends.
