Edward 'Eddie' Young Jr. passed away June 28th, 2019. His services will be held July 6th, 2019 at Rocky Zion Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
Edward Young Jr, "June" was born May 28, 1946 in St. Clair County to the late Edward Young, Sr and the late Birtie Mae Harris Young in Pell City, Alabama. He graduated from St. Clair County Training School in 1966. He earned an Associate of Business Administration Degree from Nettleton Business College, Omaha, NE. He continued night school classes and received his Auto Body Certificate from Metro Community College , Omaha, NE.
Edward entered the Army September 30th, 1966, serving in Vietnam for 12 months, 1967-1968. He received the following medals /badges;National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M-14 & M-16) Edward was honorably discharged with a SP4 rank on September 29, 1969.
Edward was employed at Fruehauf later named LBT from May 1971 to the end of 2008 as a wireman.
Edward joined in holy matrimony to Willie Kate Garrett on July 3, 1971 in Omaha, NE by Pastor ZW Williams of Morning Star Baptist Church. Born to this union were two children, Edward III and Cheryl Renee.
Edward loved to hunt, fish and work on vehicles. He became a taxi driver after his grandchildren were born.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, two brothers and four sisters.
Edward leaves to cherish his fond, happy memories; his loving wife of 48 years , Willie Kate; son, Edward III (Helena) Des Moines, IA; daughter, Pamela Green, Pell City, AL; five grandchildren, Cheryl Young, University of Texas at Dallas, Alexis Young, Iowa State University, Zoe Young, University of Maryland , Frederick Heath and Edward Keith, Des Moines, IA; brother, Terry (Wendy ) Young, Pell City, AL; sister Linda Young, Durham, NC; sisters-in law; Ada McConnell, Nellie Posey, Betty (Larry) Davis, Francis Garrett, A. Lois Embry all of Pell City, AL, Glean Walker, Omaha, NE; brothers-in-law, John (Gloria) Garrett, Los Angeles, CA, Charlie (Shirley )Garrett, Talladega, AL and Lee (Deana) Garrett, Omaha, NE; four aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
