Esma Shook

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 pm at Union Baptist Church with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.



Esma was born June 25, 1948 to Clarence and Talta (Green) Beechum in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was one of 10 children.

Esma worked at Sears and then was a long time employee of Holmes Murphy.

Esma was married to John Shook in1979.

Esma passed away April 27, 2013. She was 64 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Montroy Scott; sisters, Rosalie Reece, Wiladean Cropp and Nevha Johnson; her brothers, Hurl , Vernon, Rylan, Thomas and Wesley Beechum.

Esma is survived by her husband, John Shook; her children, Ronell Beechum, Shellece Scott, Talta Kern (Daniel) and Alicia Herber; grandhchildren Brittany Schmaker, Jasmine Kaski, Roman Price, Dannishia Kern, and Jordan Monroe; great grand daughter Amani Kern; her brother ,Richard (Nancy) Beechum and a host of extened family and many friends.



Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 10 1m to 8 pm with the family present from 6-8 pm.
