Etta Mae Thomas

Ms. Etta Mae Thomas, was a lifelong resident of Des Moines, Iowa.

Born in Des Moines to Eddie Flynn and Willie Mae (Bryson) Flynn, Etta was educated in the Des Moines Public School system.

Etta loved to travel, fish, shop, play dominos and later in life, sing in the choir at Mt. Olive. She also was a member of the Mother's Board and Pastor's Aide. Etta loved spending time with her grand children and wouldn't leave the house until she was fully dressed with hair and nails done perfectly. She never met a stranger and every one felt at home at her house.

On August 3, 2013, Etta made her transition to her Heavenly home. Waiting to greet her were her husband, Alonzo Thomas; her sisters, Margaret, Alberta, Yvetta and Barbara Jean and their parents.

Ms. Etta leaves to mourn her passing, her children Maria Jackson, Eddie Thomas, Reggie (Megan) Pettit, Vanessa (Rev. James) Wright, Doreen Johnson and Stephen Johnson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family, church family and friends.

Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm.
