Evelyn Berniece Bailey

Evelyn Berniece Bailey was born on May 20, 1941 in Granger, Iowa to Joseph and Pauline Wesley. She had five beautiful sisters and three talented brothers.

Evelyn, known to most as "Evie", attended and graduate from the Granger School District. She was employed at Broadlawns Medical Center, retiring after 37 years of service as a Unit Clerk.

Evie married Frank Bailey in September of1966. From this union came one of Evie's greatest joys: "Gina Bina".

Evie received her salvation at Mission Temple, under the leadership of the late Bishop, Everett A. Tindrell. As a member of Mission Temple, she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Later, Evie rededicated her life and became a member of St. John's Full Gospel Baptist Church under Bishop E. L. Dillard. While there, she prepared foods for special events. Evie's final 'mission' was her membership at New Jerusalem Church under the leadership of Elder Stephen K. Tindrell.

Evie's hobbies included sewing (she created the bridal party's dresses and tuxedo's for her sister, Velma's wedding), fishing, cooking, basket weaving, cross-stitching, needle point and BAKING. Evie loved to bake, and her family loved that she loved to bake. Her baked goods were in such high demand; people were willing to purchase them.

Evie was loving and kind hearted, but a strict disciplinarian. She was a very giving person, and taught everyone she encountered how to respect, love, show kindness and be a giving person. She treated all of her nieces and nephews as her own children. Prior to her illness, Evie could remember every one of their birthdays and would send them cards. Even though she dealt with many illnesses throughout her life, she always maintained her faith and a positive attitude.

Evie departed this life November 18, 2012 at the age of 71.She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pauline Wesley; her brothers, Joe, John and Marvin and her sisters, Ruby, Gladys, Mary and Velma.

Evie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Regina Bailey-Dorsey (Ronnie); her niece, Traci Johnson; her great nieces, Skylar Johnson and Keya Jefferson; her sister Mildred Tindrell; her best friend, Carol Morrow and a host of extended family and friends.
