Ezra was a story teller and so to honor him a "Storytelling" will be held Saturday June 26, 2021. It willbegin PROMPTLY at 2 pm until 5 pm at the Sherwood Forrest Event Center , 7400 Hickman Road in Windsor Heights. Seating is limited. Light refreshments will be available.

Ezra Sillas Jr. , aka “Butch” or “Bull,” departed this world Friday March 19, 2021. Born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois in 1949, he found his way to Iowa for school. He attended Indian Hills Community College and graduated from Drake University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He worked various jobs: DSM Airport, Drake Security, Youth Group Homes, Fort Des Moines Correctional and as a Juvenile Court Probation Officer for over 30 years, where he retired in 2004.

Ezra had an infectious smile and a trick up his sleeve for family and friends. He was aman who loved to tinker, bike, walk, travel to ball games and willing to offer a quick drink or advice in his man cave. He is aman who will be remembered for his sharp hats, dark shades and a suit with a matching tie and pocket square.

Ezra was well known in the community and will be truly missed. He leaves behind a wife, Guestene, over 50 years as a couple; two daughters, Tynnetta Sillas andEndya (Corye) Johnson; six grandchildren: DeVontez, Kabrina, Brianna, Sydney, Janea andAerz; sisters,Katie Moore (Willie) andRuby Dell Smith; brothers, Hercules (Savannh) Brown, Walter (Alma) Sillas, Anthony Sillas andStanton Sillas;along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members that may not have been mentioned here, but surely are not forgotten to him.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and the familyrequest, a private ceremony for the immediate family will be held at Henderson's Highland Funeral Home. A future celebration service for Ezra will be arranged at another time anddate.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that charitable donations be made to the James Hawkins organization, Boys 2 Men youth program (PO Box 57421, Des Moines, Iowa 50317) or the Boys and Girls on Drake Campus in honor of Ezra Sillas. Memorial Gathering
