Flora Ann Jamison

January 5, 1955 — March 7, 2022

Flora Ann Jamison

Flora Ann "Cissy" Jamison was born on January 5, 1955 to Fred and Winifred Reece (Lowery) in Des Moines, Iowa. She had seven brothers: Harry, Anthony, and James Colbert; Lewis Frederick, Theodore (deceased) and Gregory Reece (deceased) and Frank Propps Jr. of Des Moines; three sisters: Linda Russian, Winifred Reece (deceased), and Kathy Propps (deceased).

Flora Attended Wallace Elementary School and East High School in Des Moines, and Eau Claire High School in Columbia, South Carolina.

Flora joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (where she served as First Lady) and Maple Street Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines.

A wife of forty-nine years, Flora married the love of her life, the Reverend Benjamin W. Jamison, on August 28, 1972 in Columbia, South Carolina. From this union came five children: Faith, Monty, Gregory (deceased), Buffy, and Seth; four of whom are college graduates.

Flora loved football and was a die hard Minnesota Vikings fan. Despite the teams seeming inability to win the big one, she continued to support them hoping that one day they would come through.

Funny, hardworking, selfless, and spiritual, Flora maintained a devotional life that few people knew of or attained to; not just as a preachers wife, but as a Christian in her own right. She truly loved the Lord, and walked with Him in humility. She taught us patience, alertness, kindness, and generosity.

Flora went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2022 at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. Preceding her in death were: a son, Gregory Deshawn Wandybill Jamison; two brothers, Theodore and Gregory Reece of Des Moines; two sisters, Winifred Clarise Reece and Kathy Propps; grandparents, Harry Sr. and Flora Mae Campbell Lowery of Des Moines; uncles, Van, William, Jack, and Clifford Lowery and aunts, Minnie Jackson and Mae Wagner.

Besides husband, children, and senior family members, she leaves to remember her inspirations: grandchildren, Elijah, Montrell, and Mekhi Benjamin Jamison of Des Moines; mother, Winifred Brownell Lowery of Des Moines; uncles, Harry and Richard Lowery of Des Moines, and many cousins, relatives, and special friends.
