Geneva Arlene Hughes

Geneva Arlene (Dixon) Hughes was born on May 9, 1932 to Anderson Dixon and Mary Hawkins, in Joiner, AR. She was educated in the local school district and graduated from Turrell High School.

Geneva professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was a member of True Bible Baptist Church. She was a long time member of the choir and served as a choir director for some time. In her free time Geneva would often read her Bible or sing gospel songs while completing various tasks. Her hobbies included singing, quilt making, cooking and baking.

On May 13,2019, Geneva answered the Masters call to rest. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Toia Marie; a son Alfred Timmothy; mother, Mary L. Lawerence; father, Anderson J. Dixon; siblings, Clifton Dixon, Joe Dixon, Alvin Dixon, Vernon Hawkins, Roxy Dixon Robinson, Thelma Dixon Bailey.

Left to cherish Genevas memory is her husband, Johnson Hughes Sr.; remaining children, Johnson Jr., Edith of Minneapolis, MN., Gary (Cassandra) Strode of Detroit, MI., Cathy, Derrick and Christopher of Dallas, TX., Damon and Anthony of Memphis, TN.; brothers, Alfred (Jeanette) Hawkins of Gilbert, AZ., William Hawkins of Decatur, IL.; sister, Sarah (Al) Sutton of Phoenix, AZ., 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host other relatives and family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at True Bible Baptist Church on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 11: a.m. Visitation
