Gertrude Naber

Gertrude Genevieve Gilligan was born to Roger and Catherine (Finn) Gilligan on September 14, 1926, in Jefferson Township of Carroll County, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area, attending the Jefferson County School District.

On February 13, 1946, Jerome Naber and Gertrude were united in marriage. And to that union, three children were born: Dianne, Jerome (Bill) and Marie. Later in life, they would be blessed with 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Gertrude was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to play cards and enjoyed working on puzzles. Gertrude also loved to read romance novels, watch soap operas as well as Jeopardy with her children. She also loved to spend time with her family. The family will miss her apple and pumpkin pies as well as her famous chocolate chip cookies.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Naber; parents, Roger and Catherine Gilligan; siblings, William Gilligan, Anna Thor, Catherine Thomas, Roger E. Gilligan, Pauline Schusessler; great-grandchildren MacKenzie & Haileh Naber.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dianne (Paul) Wright, Bill Naber, Marie Day; grandchildren, Paula (Troy) Kearns, Megan (Steve) Wright-Walker, Zachary (Crystal) Wright, Joshua & Jordan Naber, Tina (Gary) Stewart, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
