Harry Wyatt Flipping, Jr.

Harry Wyatt Flipping, Jr. was born May 21, 1952 to Harry Wyatt Flipping, Sr. and Goldie Jones in Des Moines, Iowa. Harry was educated in the Des Moines Public School System and graduated from North High School.

Harry was an employee of the City of Des Moines where he worked in the economic development department.

Harry enjoyed listening to music and loved to have a good time. He was an M.C. and DJ and was also a member of the “Black Pride” group. Harry never met a stranger and many people considered him a friend. He always wanted to see young people make something out of themselves and he provided students assistance with tutoring and mentoring for college preparation. Harry also assisted Jeff Hill with Xavier McDaniels youth basketball camps and was the chief admin for all community operations. He was very meticulous.

For a period of time, Harry worked at Urban Dreams and KUCB where he hosted a show that facilitated discussion of local social issues and legislation. Harry also knew his way around the kitchen and liked to cook.

On August 22, 2021 Harry transitioned from time into eternity.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Flipping, Sr. and Goldie Jones; brother, Randy Flipping and brother-in-law, Kalonji Saadiq.

Harrys memories will live through his children, Monique Flipping and Psalms Flipping; siblings, Gordon Flipping and Tammy Saadiq; grand-children, Khalik Deering, Kenan Deering and Jaylen Davis, along with extended family members and numerous friends.
