Herbert 'Herbie' Louis Whitfield

Herbert 'Herbie' Louis Whitfield was born September 16, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to Herbert Sargent and Melvina Whitfield. He was one of eighteen children.

Herbie did a brief stint in the United States Navy after his graduation from North High School. He was pursuing a degree in Language Interpretation from DMACC.

Herbie loved fishing and woodworking and man could that guy sing! He loved old school music; and back in the day he could have given Eddie Kendricks a run for his money! Herbie was also a skilled chess player. He was self employed as a landscaper/handyman until an accident in 2004.

After a valiant battle, Herbie won and went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2013. He was 59 years old.

Herbie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jimmy Whitfield, Louise Pierce, Neviah Mae Moore, Henry Looney, Jr. and Martin W. Looney.

Left to mourn his loss are his children, Chate' Baker, Christopher Whitfield, Dante' Whitfield and Terrick Soley; Meeka and Takesha Burton; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He also leaves his siblings, Horman Whitfield, Randy Whitfield, Joyce Whitfield-Baker, Willie Moore, Jr, McKinley Moore, Betty Moore, Sandy Looney, Linda Looney, Jerry Looney, Greg Looney, Rhonda Looney, Tonya Looney; his faithful dog, Tiny and a host of extended family and friends.
