Lana Williams

Lana passed away on December 28, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Apostolic Church starting at 11:00am on January 6, 2023. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

Lana Evans Williams, 81, of St. Louis, MO left for her heavenly home on December 28, 2022

Lana was born on March 29, 1941 to Elmer and Violet Evans in Des Moines, IA. Growing up, she attended North High School and was active at her church, the former Shiloh Baptist. From an early age, Lana was fond of cinema, musicals and soap operas. And lately she has thoroughly enjoyed the popular K- dramas.

After graduating from North High School in 1959, she started her first job as a stenographer for a life insurance company. Eventually, she landed a job at Western Union where she worked as a CRT operation, sending and singing telegrams for more than40 years.

In 1961, she met Leon Williams from Montgomery, Alabama, and they wed in 1962, going on to have two children. Leon Williams and Chana (Williams) Morton. She was a loving mother who shared her passion for Christ with her children.

After retiring from Western Union, Lana devoted herself to her faith, spending time with her grandchildren and always sparing a moment to help her family when they were in need. Lana always put God and family first and her kindness and generosity will not be forgotten.

Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Violet (Brooks) Evans; her brothers, Don Cumbess, Bo Cumbess, and Phillip Dudley; sisters, Lillian (Cumbess) Jones and Connie Evans, and sister-in-law, Annette Dudley.

She is survived by her children, leon Williams and Chana Morton; sisters, Brenda Shuler and Ermayne Hunter; sister-in-law, Roxi Evans and brother, the Honorable Kelly Evans; grandchildren John Williams, Robert Morton and Brianna Morton along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and in-laws whom she dearly loved.
