Lola Jackson

July 9, 1936 — June 11, 2021

Lola Jackson

Lola Mae Jackson was born in Yazoo, Mississippi on July 19, 1936. Her mother, Elnora Isaac raised her and her siblings, after she moved to Chicago.

Lola found love in the person of John A. Jackson. They were married in Gary, Indiana. Sadly John would precede her in death.

Lola was a hard worker. She was employed by Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana where she worked in Food Service. She loved to cook, and was good at it. You could always go by her house and grab something good out of the freezer. Her greens and black eyed peas were the best.

Ms. Lola had a ready smile for you every day. She never met a stranger and loved people. She spent time at the Logan Community Centerhelping out, socializing and having fun. She really enjoyed the Bingo games. Lola loved life and meeting people. She spent a lot of time with her family, especially the grandkids, and nothing gave her more pleasure. She was the biggest advocate for the grandkids; she did all she could to save them from a spanking. For years she attended Maple Street Baptist Church. She changed hermembership to Bethel AME and attended until her health began to fail. She always enjoyed hearing the word and good gospel singing.

Lola passed away June 11, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elnora; her husband, John Jackson; her sons, Ruben and Eddie; daughter, Frankie Mae; siblings, Beulah (Dollie) Coleman and Ella (Sugar) Barnes.

Lola leaves fond memories with her children, Deloris (Lonnie) Mullen, Sherman (Maggie) Isaac, Rosa Lee (Ronald) Blake and Idella Jackson; siblings, Roosevelt (Wanda) Riley, Willie (Carol) Barnes, Eddie (Linda) Barnes, Lillian Barnes; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
