Melvin Robert Lewis

Melvin Lewis passed away February 17, 2023, shortly after his beloved wife, Yvonne.

A joint Memorial service Celebrating their life and love will be held March 4, 2023 at 11am from New Beginnings Discipleship Ministries.

In honor of their "keeping it real" lives we would love for you to wear your jeans and white shirts.

Melvin Lewis was born on May 20, 1941 to Wayne Basil Lewis Sr. and Virginia Elizabeth Dixon of Akron, Ohio. Melvin received his early education in Akron, Ohio. Melvin had graduated from East High School in Ohio. Following high school, Melvin joined the U.S Navy Marines and boarded the U.S.S. Charles P. Seaman. Melvin travelled great wonders to Sprain, France, Germany, Italy, Cuba, Haiti and Guantanamo Bay. After being able to sacrifice his time and dedication to his country, Melvin was honorably discharged from service. Melvin met Yvonne and began a budding courtship which led to marriage. The two married on January 26, in 1963 declaring their love for another in Akron, Ohio and celebrating among their family. Melvin worked hard and dedicated 37 years as a supervisor at Bridgestone and Firestone.

Melvin was associated with New Beginnings Discipleship Ministry, where he represented Jesus Christ through his devoted faith and worship during fellowship.

Melvin spent time indulging in hobbies. Melvin loved to go shooting, camping, and fishing. He would bring back barrels of fish home. Melvin also enjoyed travelling internationally every chance he could. Melvin was great at whipping up left over meals for the family. He was a real Cleveland Browns football fan. Melvin would sing a little tune here and there that he would make up. One thing he made known was that family is everything.

Melvin Robert Lewis passed on February 17, 2023, after his dearly beloved wife. Preceding in his death are his parents, Wayne Basil Lewis Sr. and Virginia Elizabeth Dixon; brother, Wayne Lewis; sister, Marie Millander, Richard Lewis, Kenneth and Joseph

Left to cherish the memories in their hearts are his children, Deborah (Troy) Martin, Angela (David) Lynn Wilek, Stephany (Vincent) Moody and Theresa (Kevin) Cooper and a host of nieces and nephews.
