Mother Geneva R Hardin

Geneva Roberta (Martin) Hardin was born January 18, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to John Henry Martin, Sr. and Mae "Mary" Ethel (Davis) Martin. She was educated in the Des Moines Public School system where she graduated from East High School.

Geneva joined the world of work and was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Heather Manor Care Center. She was also a certified home care technician. She later became a Reading Recovery Teacher in the Des Moines Public School System, helping grade school youngsters learn to read.

Geneva fell in love and married the man of her dreams. Paul Martin Hardin, Sr. They were blessed with seven children. Sadly, Paul would precede her in death.

Geneva loved the Lord and served him at her sons church, Emmanuel Church of God in Christ. She was a faithful Church Mother and was the Missions President for many years. She loved attending church, but also took time being with her grandchildren, traveling, going to the mall and singing with her sisters. "The Martin Sisters" were a local favorite at church. Did we mention Mother Hardin could cook? Her mac n cheese, her biscuits or peach cobbler, or Lord Jesus, her cabbage wraps! We couldnt get enough! And she loved riding the city bus around town.

Mother Hardin heard Jesus whisper her name on November 14, 2018. She was welcomed to the other side by her husband, Paul Hardin, Sr.; her parents, John and Mary Martin; Her daughter, Lolita; her siblings, Paul L Martin, Sr, Louis G Martin, Sr, .James, Charles and Sonny Martin, Ruth, Maxine, Glenda, Vivian; her grandsons, Jeff and Anthony Hardin Jr.

Mother Geneva is survived by her children, Stephany (Pastor John Kurtis) Hall, Jeffrey, Todd, Catina, Anthony (Tyhesia) and Mark (Jodie) and Joe Payne; 19 grand children, 6 1/2 great grandchildren; her siblings, Inez Randolph, Virginia Hammond, Pat Lilly, Pearl Johnson, Archie Martin and Dennis Martin along with a host of extended family and friends.
