Fondly known as the “cat lady”, she adored her fur babies Molly, Mei Mei, Rocky, Suki, Frannie, and Sam, as well as her parrot Goldie. She is survived by her siblings David (Karen) Logsdon of Bondurant, Kathy (Ted) Clark of Baxter, and Linda Smith of Baxter, and her sister-in-law Carol Shiner of Manning. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Gregory Shiner, her parents, her sister Tina Logsdon, and her beloved pets Maggie, Patches, Frosty, Sparky, Rocky, and Ruby.
Nancy graduated from Tech High in 1975, where she excelled as captain of the drill team and showcased her talent on the tennis courts. Her professional journey led her to FIS Global, culminating in a tenure that took her to Westchester, IL, before retiring and returning to Iowa in 2020, to be closer to her sisters and her brother. She loved to attend craft shows with her sisters, relishing the thrills of annual trips to Halloween Horror Nights (with her favorite Simpsons ride in tow), and basking in the camaraderie of Palm Springs rendezvous with cherished friends defined her post-retirement bliss. Her high school companions held a special place in her heart, and she reveled in exploring the world’s wonders, enriching the lives of those around her with every shared adventure.
A service to honor and celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at Henderson's Funeral & Cremation Care in Des Moines, IA on May 22, 2024. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with memorial services followed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Nancy’s memory. Her legacy of love and zest for life will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
