Olga Elizabeth Hill was born May 25, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the oldest of four children born to Gertrude (Wheeler) Bibbs and Thomas Jackson Bibbs. Olga was married to Kenneth M. Hill (deceased) and from that union they had one child, a daughter, Marva Gertrude (Hill) Williams Washington.

Olga was a dedicated member of Burns Methodist Church until 1961 when she became a Seventh Day Adventist and joined Philadelphia SDA. Olga was a devoted member of Philadelphia and held several positions and was involved in many projects and ministries including Church Superintendent, Food Pantry and working with the Van Ministries.

Olga graduated from North High School and went on to attend IB in Des Moines where she studied business. She furthered her education and attained an Associate's degree from DMACC,

a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Drake University.

Olga worked for Younker's Department Store for over 17 years. She was the first African-American to work at the cosmetics counter.

Olga always had a love for children and a passion for teaching. As a teacher with the Des Moines Public School System, she was very dedicated to her students. She had a passion for learning and felt it was important to make sure that her students were not only properly educated but received encouragement and support to fulfill their dreams and potential.

Olga retired from the Des Moines Public School System in 1989. Even while in retirement, Olga found ways to give back. She volunteered and tutored students at King Elementary School. She continued to do ministry work and volunteered her time with the Retired Teacher's Association. Olga also was a phenomenal writer and she joined the Carpenter Senior writing Group. The group called themselves 'The Harvesters'.

After a brief illness, Olga won the victory and went home to be with our Lord and Savior. She was 92 years old. Preceding her in death was her father, Thomas Bibbs; mother, Gertrude Bibbs; beloved only child, Marva Williams Washington; sister, Willetta Carter and brother, John Bibbs.

Left to cherish Olga's memory is her granddaughters, Bridgette Blunt Partee (Kenneth), Billijo Williams and Bretta Moore (Robert); great -grandchildren, Tyler Blunt, Brycen Moore, and Sasha Moore, nieces and nephews, extended family, many friends and her beloved church family.

Ms. Olga would end her phone calls with, 'May God hear you when you call, lift you if you fall, bless you as you stand, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.'
