Pastor John W Quinn

Pastor John W. Quinn was born on September 1, 1934 to Herschel and Grace (Taylor) Quinn in Missouri. Later in life, the Quinn family would relocate to Des Moines, Iowa. John would go on to attend East High School.

John met and married the love of his life, Betty Jean Brown, on October 19, 1953. From this union two children were born: John and Stephanie Quinn (Townsell).

John was an employee of Construction Labor Local #177 for 27 years, and for Iowa Packing Company as a Laborer for 15 years. For 30 years John pastored Divine Temple Church of God in Christ in Des Moines, Iowa. He also held a position on the Executive and Ordination Board and a special position in the Youth Department. John loved gardening, fishing, hunting and bowling. If he wasn't preaching or teaching you could find him watching golf on the TV or traveling throughout the United States.

John was preceded in death by his parents; Herschel and Grace Quinn; siblings, Raydell Quinn, William Quinn, Nathaniel Quinn, Herschel Quinn, Doramae James, Mary DeVan and Joan Quinn.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years; Betty Quinn, children, John (Denise) Quinn Jr., Stephanie (Grant) Townsell; siblings, Allene Meadors, Patty Jo Wells, Zella (Robert) Williams, grandchildren; Johnette (Brian) Burnett, Grant (Panacha) Townsell IV, Tia (Anthony) Wilson, Stephan (Torrie) Townsell , Johnavae (Charles) Campbell, John Quinn III; 19 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.Visitation
