Robert “Bob” Willett Connelly, 77, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at SunnyView Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Highland Park Christian Church. His memorial service will immediately follow and begin at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Bob was born in Des Moines on September 16, 1946, to Jack and Janice (Anderson) Connelly. He grew up in Des Moines where he attended and graduated from North High School in 1964. Following school, Bob joined the Air Force and served in the Vietnam Conflict. Once returning home, Bob began working at Firestone Tire and retired from there after 34 years of service.

He married the love of his life Deana Olson on May 24, 1991. The couple resided in Des Moines where they raised their family together.

Bob was a member of Highland Park Christian Church and AA for 35 years. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, and making pancakes for his family.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife Deana Connelly; children Mitch Dickert, Chad Dickert, Michael (Juanita) Connelly, Matt (Jennifer) Connelly, and bonus daughter Kylie (Amber) Rankin; grandchildren Layne (Brianna) Connelly, Wyatt Connelly, Logan Connelly, Tiernan Connelly, McKayla Connelly, and bonus grandchildren Anthony Waldera and Matthew Gasca; siblings William Connelly, Rebecca (Randy) Swisher, Brett (Lori) Connelly, and Chris Connelly; many nieces and nephews; cousins; and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Lisa Connelly.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family so they can distribute to Bob’s favorite charities in need.

His family extends a special thank you to Allen Lynch and all Suncrest Hospice staff and the staff at SunnyView Care Center for the wonderful care they gave Bob.
