Tyler was born on September 14, 1994, to Carlous Oxendine and Angela Moore in Lumberton, North Carolina, and he went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years Jessica Oxendine, whom he married on November 7, 2014, also by the couple’s four daughters: Keytonah (13), Aiyana (10), Amayah (9), and Tyler Grace (7); his parents Carlous Oxendine and Angela Moore, his grandmother Annie (Freddie) Hilton, and other extended family members and friends.
Tyler was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Les and Tina Tyree, and paternal grandfather Carnis Oxendine.
He was a loving husband and father that demonstrated his love for his family, and proved that obstacles are merely setbacks meant to be overcome.
Among many things Tyler was humorous, he loved to laugh and always entertained those around him. The playful personality of his childhood increased evermore as he grew into a man, and drew people to him and was quite infectious. He further concerned himself with those around him by mentoring many in recovery along the way, and to his credit he always seemed to give back more than he was given, but always thankful.
Tyler’s faith was also an important part of his life as he understood what it meant to be forgiven, and what was given for it, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). Even in the tough times he recognized that “Be still, and know that I am God…” (Ps. 46:10) meant trust Me.
Psalms 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
